Data preparation and shaping in Power BI using Power Query
Throughout the development of a Power BI solution, you likely spend most of your time (some said about 70% of the overall time) preparing the data, shaping it and getting it in the right, and sometimes merging it before loading it into Power BI. This is a task you can do in the Power BI ecosystem using the Power Query transformation engine. This session will take you through some of the most common scenarios of data transformations with live demos. This session includes tips and tricks that you can use in your everyday Power BI implementations.

Let's explore Power Excel!
Description:
Many of the self-service BI features we know and love in Power BI made their first appearance as add-ins for Microsoft Excel, in the form of Power Pivot and Power Query. These features live on in the latest versions of Excel, and are valuable tools for anyone who works with data in Excel. This session is for anyone who is curious about what "Power Excel" has to offer.
In this session I will build a "Power Excel" report using Power Query and Power Pivot, and compare with a similar report in Power BI, while demonstrating:
•Key differences between Power BI and Excel's Power Query & Power Pivot
•Excel-specific features, including PivotTables, cube functions and named sets
•Visualization options in Excel
•How to import from Excel to Power BI

Enterprise Analytics: API data analysis using Azure and Power BI
An increasing number of my clients are leveraging data from sensors that give them a greater insight to what is happening or needs to happen in their organisations. This could be from wind speed and temperature from weather stations, flow rates and levels from rivers or foot falls from a retail outlet. Many of these solutions are provided by third parties who make the information available in proprietary dashboards.
But what if you want to use (almost) real time information in Power BI alongside other business information or analyse current information against historical trends?
Third party information is often available via an API call, which is great if you have the ability inhouse to utilise it programmatically. However, if you do not have the developers to do that then utilising Azure services and Power BI provides a solution.
Technology:
•Azure Data Factory
•Azure Stream Analytics
•Azure Storage Account
oBlob Storage
oAzure Data Lake Store
•Power BI

Sharing methods and licensing in Power BI
So you built a Power BI report and want to share it with others. However, you realized that there are many different ways of sharing the report; you can use simple sharing, share in a workspace, use apps, or through Teams or SharePoint. For every one of these methods, the licensing can also be different. There is a premium option, and also an embedded and per-user licensing. This session is clarifying everything for you. The licensing and sharing in the world of Power BI won’t be a mystery for you anymore, and you would be able to decide the best option for your solution.
